Icarus is an installation structure derived from a scientific form that catalogues all know substances, based on their molecular structure and physical properties- the periodic table of elements. Its structure is a rough model that attempts to give universal order to the building blocks of all known materials. The title “Icarus” refers to a character in a Greek mythology who is commonly known for his attempt to escape Crete by flight that ends in a fall to his death. It is story of the dangers of human pride and over confidence in technology. In the photographic installation, natural fragments referring to flight are printed on clear acetate and floated in their frames.
