This series references the Biblical Fall in a general way. As a woman—mother, wife, daughter—I am well versed in the guilt and blame placed on women in patriarchal culture. On a more personal level, the reference to falling has to do with the long-term disability I have suffered as the result of a concussion. The consequence of which leaves me with dizziness and impaired vision. These issues come together in a series of disturbing triptychs, shot underwater, which bring to mind a struggle for air, light, and release.
